One of our sales agents Kim
Pilkiington says " I came across an ad offering flexible working hours and a
commission only income. While the flexible working hours appealed to me,
giving me the ability to work around my children, and the dreaded school
holidays, the commission-only income was something that concerned me.
However I decided to give it a go, you never know until you try. I started
by getting family members who had been considering a family portrait to come
and give Big Picture a try. The FREE portrait session with no obligation to
buy gave them a nothing- to- loose opportunity to give the studio a try.
They were thrilled with the results, commenting that there was no rush or
limit on the number of photographs taken. In fact I think they got to choose
out of about 60 pictures, and at the end of it got the chance to buy a DVD
of all images from their session. Unlike some other studios, time was taken
out during the session to feed the baby who was a little cranky at the
suggestion of the studio, which they genuinely appreciated. I used this
example and a reference from the family to approach other family members,
friends and their families, who were more than willing to both help me out and get a
portrait in the process. I could have stopped at that point, earning 10% of
the sales from 5 family groups without having to extend my selling outside
of my immediate family unit. I decided to continue as I have a large network
of people who I know either directly or indirectly. I find the income very
handy and with no pressure to sell from the studio, I can do some selling
for a couple of hours while the children are at school, and if I have too
much to do, or the weather is nice enough that I want to spend the afternoon
in the garden with my feet up (doesn't happen often), I can without having
to ring in to the studio with some flimsy excuse". |
